Come to the table and notice with me.

This morning, my morning prayer call opened with an announcement:

“We have a new address.” Our new address? Faith Street.

I laughed. I actually live on Faith Street. 🤭🎶🤭

Then I began to wonder… If Faith Street is our address, what is on our street? That question opened a door I was not expecting. Curiosity took over.

Ephesians tells us something extraordinary about our position:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

— Ephesians 1:3

• One chapter later, Paul tells us that God has raised us up and seated us with Christ in the heavenly places.

• Our address comes Before our Assignment

• We walk from where we are Already Seated.

Then Paul spends the rest of the letter teaching us how to walk from where we are seated; by Ephesians 6, he tells us how to stand.

Suddenly I saw something I had never pictured quite this way before: What if the armor of God is what we wear into battle AND what keeps us aligned with The KING as we walk with Him?

When you walk with THE KING long enough… walking starts looking suspiciously like dancing. 🤭🎶🤭

Faith Street Apparel

We are seated with Christ in heavenly places wearing the whole armor of God:

👑 → Helmet of Salvation — we think from what Jesus has accomplished

🪢 → Belt of Truth — Truth holds our perception together

❤️ → Breastplate of Righteousness — our hearts rest in our received standing in Christ

💎 → Truth is revealed

👂 → We have Ears to Hear

👁️ → We have Eyes to See

❤️ → We have hearts enlarged with Understanding and Knowing

🗝️ → We choose to Agree with Jesus as Lord & Saviour

🤝 → We agree with who The KING says we are Ephesians 1:3

🛡️ → Shield of Faith — flaming arrows fall away, our Agreement stands

⚔️ → Sword of the Spirit — the Word gives us Truth to speak and walk

👣 → Our feet are fitted with the Gospel of Peace

👣 → We walk in alignment

🙏 → We remain in conversation with God

🎶 → Walking with The KING becomes dancing

🌻 → Fruit appears

🍯 → Heaven’s honey spills over

↔️ → The Broad Boulevard of Faith expands!

Dancing With THE KING

Now look again at what we are wearing. Belt of Truth around us. Righteousness guarding our hearts. Salvation guarding our minds. Shield of Faith surrounding us. The Word in our hands. Peace on our feet.

Prayer keeping us continually attentive to God. We are dressed to follow His lead.

He steps.

We Respond. We follow.

He reveals.

We choose. We agree.

He leads.

We follow. Our agreement becomes movement.

That is alignment.

Agreement Paves the Way

Suddenly our walking out what we say we believe becomes dancing it out!

Fruit Appears

• Jesus told us that fruit grows from abiding.

• Paul tells us that the Spirit produces fruit.

• Fruit is the overflow of life rooted in our identity in Christ

• Fruit grows along the Boulevard.

As we follow the King, we begin to see differently. The farther we walk— the more we see. The more we see—the more there is to receive, gather, and steward. The more faithfully we steward—the more fruit appears. The more fruit appears the more Heaven’s honey spills over the edges of our lives. 🍯

Someone else tastes His goodness. Someone else sees something that had been hiding in plain sight. Someone else hears the music. Someone else steps onto Faith Boulevard. Somehow—Faith Boulevard expands. There is always room for more!

Today’s Noticing Invitation

Maybe the question today shifts from “Am I doing enough?”, to:

• “KING, what step are You taking?”

• Where is Truth inviting me into agreement today?

• What do I hear?

• What do I see?

• What choice would make my agreement visible?

• What would it look like simply to follow His lead?

It so freeing that we do not need to manufacture fruit nor do we need to choreograph the entire dance.

Treasure

I spent most of my life believing The KING was trying to fix me. I did not know what I did not know.

Holy Spirit was faithfully shining The Light so I could adjust my Agreement into Alignment with who The Father says I already am in Christ.

Sometimes The King changes our lives by gently refining a single question...

Curiosity

Last week as I watched my daughter walk toward her groom, I found myself crying happy tears.

I also found myself quietly praying, “Abba, help them to keep loving each other well in all seasons of life.”

A question settled into my heart.

What kind of relationship does The KING actually delight to build?

That question had me reflecting upon nearly thirty years of marriage…

Personally, I had spent twenty years sincerely trying to build my marriage from the lens that something was fundamentally wrong with me. I was asking The KING to “Fix me.”

• If something was difficult… Fix me.

• If I hurt and did not know why… Fix me.

• If I misunderstood… Fix me.

• If love felt distant… Fix me.

I truly believed becoming “better” would produce the fruit I longed for. Looking back, I can now see that even then, The King was lovingly pursuing me.

Understanding

Then, about nine years and nine months ago, the King gently introduced a different question.

From… “Fix-me.”

To… “What’s Good About You?”

At first, I could not answer. I had spent so many years looking at what was wrong with me that I had forgotten to look for the Treasure the King had already placed within me.

The question was an invitation to begin seeing myself through The Father’s Lens.

Agreement

As that question settled into my heart, something unexpected happened. I began seeing Scripture differently. My lens was beginning to adjust.

My assumption shifted from I needed fixing… Instead, I began reading the Bible as someone:

• Already loved.

• Already held.

• Already being completed by the One who began the good work in me.

  ---

Alignment

The more I learned to receive The KING’s love… The more secure my identity became… The more freedom I had to bring into:

• every belief,

• every relationship,

• and every understanding

into The Light before The King. Putting my Trust in His Finished work, allowing Holy Spirit to gently continue renewing my mind. Little by little, coming into Agreement with The KING.

Fruit

Looking back, I see two distinct seasons.

• Twenty years of asking The KING to “Fix me.”

• The last nine years and nine months discovering The KING had been faithfully inviting me to look through His lens, “What’s Good About You? the image bearer I created?”

Those two questions have produced profoundly different fruit. One kept me on the hamster wheel of performance attempting to fix what I thought was wrong. While “What’s Good About You,” was inviting me to discover the Treasure The KING had already begun revealing leading me to His Freedom.

Invitation

What question are you living from? The questions we live from quietly shape the lenses through which we see:

• Ourselves…

• Others…

• The King...

As I watched my daughter and son-in-love begin their marriage, I realized the greatest blessing I could pray for them was that they would grow to know more deeply how much each of them are loved by the King. When we receive His Love:

• Holy Spirit faithfully shines The Light.

• Our minds are renewed.

• We increasingly agree with how The Father sees us in Christ.

• His Love fills us and naturally overflows into one another and the world around us.

  ---

Bible References:

• Genesis 1 — created in His image.

• 2 Corinthians 5:17 — new creation.

• Romans 12:2 — renewing of the mind.

• Colossians 3:10 — renewed according to the image of the Creator.

• 2 Corinthians 3:18 — transformed by beholding Christ.

• Philippians 1:6 — the Father faithfully completes what He began.

• Ephesians 1:3 — our Sonship

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. (Deuteronomy 6:5 NASB)

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:18)

There was one command I quietly stumbled over. Loving the Lord was not the place I stumbled it was “…love your neighbour as yourself” I could never quite reconcile it with the rest of Scripture.

Centuries later, Jesus brought those two commands together:

“Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:40)

Then Paul wrote,

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3 NASB)

I thought I understood. So I spent years trying to become smaller. I became quieter. I explained less. I served more. I disappeared so slowly that I hardly noticed it was happening. I thought that was humility.

Then one day, while sitting with the King, I realized I had been asking the wrong question. I had been asking,

“How do I love myself while considering others more important?”

The KING gently asked another question:

I had never thought about it. The verses had become so familiar that I had stopped seeing it. Who exactly is “yourself”?

I went back to the beginning. Genesis. Before Adam tended the garden… Before Eve… Before responsibility… Before purpose…

There was an image bearer. One personally formed by the hands of the King. One personally breathed into by God Himself. One lovingly declared “very good.”

Genesis 1:31 God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. … NASB

Then another thought quietly arrived. Perhaps the first earthly stewardship God ever entrusted to Adam was not the garden.

That thought changed everything. For years, I had heard people say, “Loving yourself is selfish.”

That never sat comfortably with me. Jesus had told me to love my neighbor as myself.

I believe Scripture is cohesive. If it seemed contradictory, perhaps it was my lens that needed adjusting…

Then I realized something. The image bearer does not belong to me.

1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. NASB

I am simply entrusted to steward His image.

Suddenly, “love yourself” sounded completely different. Rather than self-exaltation or self-neglect—Stewardship.

The command was inviting me to faithfully steward the unique image bearer the King entrusted to my care because that image bearer belongs to Him.

Everything changed. Boundaries changed. Relationships changed. Money changed.

Even Philippians changed:

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; NASB

I saw Paul was never telling me I had less value. He was inviting me to freely honor another image bearer from the security of my image in Christ.

Humility was never self-erasure. Humility is love expressing itself through faithful stewardship.

Then I noticed something else. The Bible keeps telling the same story.

We are:

• Made in His image. (Genesis 1:27)

• His workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)

• The temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:19)

• Not our own. (1 Corinthians 6:19–20)

None of those verses invite me to think more highly of myself.

Neither do they invite me to think less of myself.

They invite me to agree with the King.

Perhaps that is why Jesus could say, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Because every person I meet—including the one in the mirror—belongs to the same King. My neighbor is an image bearer entrusted to the King’s care. So am I.

The first image bearer I encounter each day is the one in the mirror.

For eight years, I wrestled with those verses.

Then my struggle quietly ended as I adjusted my lens with this question:

How am I faithfully stewarding myself—the image bearer the King entrusted to my care?

Perhaps that is where love begins. Faithfully stewarding every image bearer the King places in our care—including the first one we meet each morning in the mirror.

Before we begin…

Pause for just a moment. There may be someone within you who still notices glimmers. Someone who still wonders. Someone who still follows breadcrumbs. Someone who has faithfully carried more than anyone ever realized?

If Little is peeking around the corner…

I hope Little feels welcome here. The KING has never left Little alone. Even when it felt that way.

If Big is standing nearby…

Welcome. You don’t have to have the whole map today. You only need enough Light for the next faithful step.

Come with me, your Treasure Guide. Let us follow the next glimmer together.

It all began with a glimmer. Just enough Light to make me stop… and notice.

That single glimmer awakened curiosity. Curiosity invited me closer. Closer came another glimmer. Then another.

I had no idea that I was beginning a journey.

Everywhere I looked, there were invitations to notice. Yet so often those clues seemed hidden beneath layers of:

• fear…

• pain…

• shame…

• offence…

• pride…

• distorted ways of seeing...

The treasure had become covered in slime. I came to call this Opposite World. The footprints were still there. The breadcrumbs were still there. The treasure was still there. The Light had never stopped shining.

I simply could not yet see what had always been true. Looking back, I believe the BlindFAITH Fold was protection.

Little—the faithful emotion steward—was never trying to keep me from the King. Little was protecting me with the understanding she had at the time. Little faithfully carried what was too heavy to understand all at once.

The King never condemned Little for that. Instead, with extraordinary patience, The Father continued the good work He had already begun. One glimmer of Light at a time.

Notice what Light was revealing.

A beautiful key labeled Curiosity. The key turned in the barely visible ornate lock.

Noticing became Recognition. Another key was discovered.

Recognition grew into Understanding. Another key was discovered. Understanding deepened Compassion.

Compassion made room for greater Love.

Then I realized something astonishing. The keys were also lenses!

• Humility changed what I could see.

• Curiosity kept me looking.

• Wisdom knows what I notice.

• Teachability opened my heart to receive.

• Discernment helped me distinguish.

• Understanding helped the pieces fit together.

• Compassion softened my vision.

• Identity reminded me Whose I am.

• Hope lifted my eyes.

• Truth anchored me.

• Grace gave me room to keep growing.

• Emotions faithfully reveal where another key may still be waiting to turn.

Every key… Every lock… Every lens… its own journey.

One day I stepped back.

For the first time… I noticed it had never been a single door.

Standing before me was an enormous gate.

So immense that the two eight-foot doors built in the middle at the bottom looked like splinters in comparison. Stretching across the entire width of the great gate were magnificent, ornate locks.

At first I wondered which one was the master key. Then I realized I was asking the wrong question.

Every key mattered. Each belonged to its own lock. None could do the work of another.

Then the growing Light revealed something behind the face of the gate… none of the locks stood alone.

Hidden beneath the magnificent craftsmanship was an intricate network of gears, rods, and connections.

• When Humility turned… something moved

• When Curiosity turned… another hidden mechanism shifted, and so on…

• Teachability.

• Wisdom.

• Discernment.

• Understanding.

• Compassion.

• Truth.

• Grace.

• Identity.

• Hope.

• Emotions.

Every key quietly moved something larger than itself. Every lock was connected. Yet all operated independently.

Then my eyes were drawn to the very center. There… hidden within the magnificent mechanism… was the Master Lock of the master locks.

Love.

The lock to which every other lock had always been connected. God’s Love.

Every act of humility.

Every step of curiosity.

Every breadcrumb followed through my emotions.

Every lens adjusted.

Every key turned.

...had all been quietly moving the same magnificent mechanism by God’s design.

Jesus paved the Way for all and Holy Spirit illuminates the Way, reveals the next glimmer, the next key, the next lock, the next lens, and faithfully continues the good work that began long before I noticed the first glimmer.

Perhaps that’s why Genesis 50:20 and Romans 8:28 have become so precious to me.

What others intended for evil… God redeems.

What Opposite World covered with slime… God patiently uncovers with Light by revealing a greater story.

One glimmer.

One breadcrumb.

One footprint.

One key.

One lock.

One lens.

One invitation at a time.

Treasure Guide simply walks beside fellow travelers.

• Listening.

• Noticing.

• Wondering.

Narrating what Holy Spirit is revealing as the Way becomes illuminated.

• Sometimes Treasure Guide points toward a footprint.

• Sometimes towards a breadcrumb.

• Sometimes towards an ornate key hidden beneath years of slime.

• Sometimes towards a lens that simply needs a little cleaning.

• Sometimes Treasure Guide simply waits quietly until another glimmer catches the Light.

Always remembering…

Holy Spirit is the True Guide. Treasure Guide simply has the joy of walking beside others… pointing toward the Light… asking, “What do you notice?”

Holding up a mirror when needed. Celebrating every key that turns. Every lens that clears. Every breadcrumb that leads home.

Until fellow travelers begin to notice for themselves.

Perhaps… that is the greatest surprise of all.

The story began with a glimmer.

Faithfully following one glimmer at a time… I discovered I had been walking toward an enormous gate all along. A gate welcoming me deeper into the vastness of The Father’s KINGdom.

Journeys with God often feel surprisingly wonderful.

As we faithfully following one glimmer at a time, we gradually discover we have been walking into the vastness of The KINGdom all along.

One of the biggest ideas from Day 3 was surprisingly simple:

Honey, follow the money. It’s leaving footprints.

• Every purchase.

• Every bill.

• Every transfer.

• Every commitment.

Money is constantly leaving clues about what is happening.

The question is not whether the footprints exist.

The question is whether we notice them while there is still time to make a different decision.

One of the biggest shifts today was this:

Visibility restores stewardship.

Not pressure.

Not perfection.

Not obsessing over numbers.

Just seeing clearly enough to understand what your money is already doing.

Many financial surprises are not actually surprises.

Awareness simply arrived late.

When awareness arrives earlier, you have more options.

And that changes everything.

👣 Today’s Noticing Invitation

This morning, I caught a peek in the mirror.

I realized I had been asking the wrong question.

For years, I quietly believed that loving others meant becoming smaller.

So I did.

I considered others more important than myself.

I became quieter.

More accommodating.

I disappeared so gradually that I hardly noticed it happening.

I thought that was loving others.

Then one day, the King gently adjusted my lens.

What if I had been reading those verses through an Opposite World lens?

Perhaps loving myself was never about making much of myself.

Perhaps it begins by receiving the Father’s love for the image bearer I see in the mirror.

Because that image bearer belongs to Him.

Then I realized something else.

I can only love the image bearers in my world by first receiving the Father’s love for the image bearer I see in the mirror.

From that overflow, His love naturally reaches the people He entrusts to my path.

Perhaps we mirror the King by increasingly receiving His love until our lives become cleaner mirrors, reflecting His love to the image bearers He places in our path.

This is simply a place to pause for a few minutes, reflect on Scripture, and notice what God may be unfolding in our lives.

Today I want to reflect on a question many Christians have wondered about at some point.

Does God still speak?”

Different parts of the body of Christ answer that question in different ways.

Some communities are very comfortable talking about prophetic impressions or encounters. Other traditions are more cautious and tend to focus primarily on Scripture.

Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:19–21 (NASB)

19 Do not quench the Spirit;

20 do not despise prophetic utterances.

21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;

That protects us from two extremes.

One extreme believes everything.

The other rejects everything.

Scripture invites us to walk the middle path — staying open to God while also staying anchored in His Word.

One of the beautiful gifts of the New Covenant is that believers are not powerless.

We can test things. We can compare what we hear with Scripture. We are free to choose to align with something or simply release it. Not every word spoken over someone becomes their assignment.

When God does speak, the meaning can unfold slowly. Joseph had dreams when he was young. The dreams took many years to come to pass.

Joseph’s story is found in the chapters of Genesis 37–50.

About twenty years ago I had an experience I did not understand at the time.

I was wide awake with my husband next to me. Suddenly I was seeing something completely different. He was unaware.

It was like I was pulled into it. (Later, I learned that is called an open vision.)

It was dusk. I saw people walking by me. As darkness fell, I could see a glow shining within each person. The darker it became, the more clearly their light shined.

At first there were only a few. Then more.

All of a sudden there were countless lights boarding a flowing train that shone like it was made of silvery light.

It was moving upward, yet there were no tracks that I could see.

Stranger still, the train never stopped moving... yet people were boarding...

At the time, I did not understand what I was seeing. As I watched those lights boarding the train… I had this quiet sense that somehow what I was called to do would touch all of them.

I did not understand what that meant. Honestly, I still do not fully understand it now. That moment stayed with me. Through many years.Through seasons that were beautiful… and seasons that were incredibly painful.

There is a phrase people use called “the messy middle.” The part of the journey where you do not yet see how the pieces fit together.

For me, there were many times in that messy middle when it would have been easier to stop. Yet that moment became a quiet reminder to keep taking the next step.

When people ask the question, “Does God still speak?”

The answer shows up in the way a single moment with God gives you the courage to keep walking through the long middle of the story.

There is a quiet question to consider today:

Has there ever been a moment in your life where you sensed God might be speaking?

if so… How are you engaging with it today?”

What if the work in progress has been remembering that the Author is still writing?

Over time, something began to shift. I noticed that God never seemed nearly as concerned about my unfinished places as I was.

I was the one demanding completion. The King seemed content to walk with me. One glimmer at a time. One breadcrumb at a time. One landing at a time.

I was the one asking for certainty. The King kept inviting me to trust Him with the next step.

Paul writes:

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”

— Philippians 1:6 NASB

And in The Passion Translation:

“I pray with great faith for you, because I am fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put His finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!”

— Philippians 1:6 TPT

For years I focused on the finish line. Now I find myself drawn somewhere else.

The Faithful One. The One who continues. The One who never stops writing.

The One who faithfully continues the good work He began.

The older I get, the more grateful I become for His gentleness. He gives enough Light for Today’s landing.

Tomorrow…

Another glimmer. Another breadcrumb. Another invitation to trust.

I think grace may be bigger than I once understood. For many years I primarily thought of grace as forgiveness. (It certainly includes forgiveness.)

Now I wonder if grace is also God’s kindness in unveiling truth. Grace is enough Light for Today’s step. Grace is another glimmer. Grace is another glimpse of His workmanship. Grace is The KING’s wisdom in knowing exactly how much Light I am ready to steward today.

I am so very grateful He does not reveal everything all at once.

Instead… He simply gently reveals one Glimmer. Then another. Then another. Because He is kind.

That realization changed the way I began to see growth.

Growth no longer felt like climbing a ladder.

It felt like walking a mountain. Every landing revealed another view. Every landing allowed me to notice treasures I had walked past before.

Not because they had just appeared.

Because I had reached another place from which I could finally see them.

You know those elaborate steampunk glasses with multiple rotating lenses? Sometimes that is the picture I have of this process.

Each lens reveals something different.

Some are clear.

Some are tinted.

Some have become slimed over time.

The Light never changes.

The lenses simply continue aligning with Light, as each layer of slime is gently replaced by Truth.

Looking back, I can now see this pattern throughout my own life. Growth begins with seeing something that had been hidden in plain sight yesterday. One lens adjustment at a time.

Seeing does not create truth.

Seeing reveals more of what has always been true.

That realization has become deeply comforting.

Every new awareness is another glimmer.

Every glimmer is another invitation.

Every invitation reminds me…

The Builder is still building.

Light is expanding.

The unveiling is still unfolding.

The Author is still writing.

The psalmist writes,

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

— Psalm 119:105 NASB

And in The Passion Translation:

“Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your Word makes my pathway clear.”

The psalm never promises a floodlight. It promises a lamp.

Enough Light for today’s landing. Enough Light for today’s breadcrumb. Enough Light for today’s glimmer.

Perhaps maturity is remembering that the Author is still writing.

Lighting another breadcrumb.

Lighting another glimmer.

Lighting another landing.

Shining more Light.

Because while we breathe…

We are each His beloved Work In Progress. Every glimmer revealing another glimpse of His faithfulness.

While we have breath… The Author is still writing.

Every journey begins somewhere.

For many people, one of the simplest places to begin practicing this way of seeing is with money.

Not because money is the destination.

Because it gives us a tangible place to practice noticing what has been there all along.

I am beginning to wonder if many of the most important moments in life happen another way.

What if transformation begins with seeing?

“But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.”

One evening I drove onto church property. For months, I was a part of a small group of ladies and had been praying a hedge of protection around the property. We bound anything that was a hindrance to Holy Spirit from entering the property so that Holy Spirit would have free reign to minister to hearts.

I thought I was praying for delivery drivers, visitors, & the mailman. I had no idea that Holy Spirit was preparing to answer that prayer for me.

As I entered the property, I sensed Holy Spirit speak to my heart. “You are angry with Me.”

I immediately disagreed. “I am not angry with You.”

I was not being defensive. I genuinely did not understand what He meant. As far as I knew, I was not angry with God at all. Looking back, I realize something important.

The Stella I knew was not angry with Him.Years later, I would begin calling her Big.

Big loved Jesus. Big trusted Jesus. Big’s response was completely honest. Holy Spirit was not correcting Big. Holy Spirit gently pointed toward another glimmer..

Then He reminded me about Little. Suddenly something became visible. Something that had always been there.

Little was not created that day. Big was not created that day.

I simply became aware that two very different understandings had been traveling together within me, within one beloved daughter of God.

At first, I could not understand how both could be true. I did not receive an explanation that day.

I received a breadcrumb.

That experience changed more than I realized at the time. As I followed that breadcrumb, I began noticing the same pattern everywhere.

The treasure was there.

I simply did not see it yet.

The bookkeeping gift was there.

I simply did not see it yet.

Many gifts were already there.

Insight was there.

I simply did not see it yet.

Jesus was there.

I simply did not see His presence yet.

That realization reminded me of a story in Scripture.

The Road to Emmaus.

Two disciples walked with Jesus. Talked with Jesus. Listened to Jesus explain the Scriptures. Yet, they did not recognize Him.

The remarkable thing is that Jesus was present before He was recognized.

The miracle was not His arrival. The miracle was their eyes were opened.

“Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him…”
— Luke 24:31 NASB

Incomplete Stories

The facts did not change. The story did not change. Jesus did not change.

Their ability to notice & see Him changed.

Again and again, awareness revealed that what I could see was real.

It was also incomplete.

There are many examples in the Bible.

Genesis 39, Joseph is sitting in the prison after being falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife, he could not see Genesis 50.

The Author was still writing.

The Lord was with Joseph when he was sold into slavery, the Lord was with him in prison as well. Joseph had favor with the chief jailer of the king’s prisoners. The Lord was with Joseph. Whatever he did, the Lord caused it to prosper.

The Author was still writing.

Perhaps that is one of the greatest invitations of Scripture. To faithfully steward the chapter we are living; even though the current chapter may be painful. Following the Glimmer of Light in the midst of it all.

Visibility revealed the story was incomplete.

I have spent years discovering that many painful experiences were simply incomplete stories. Chapters.

• The scam. (Yep, been there done that.)

• 12 Miscarriages.

• My lost childhood years.

• Parenting.

• Money.

• Identity.

• Business.

Each one became another landing.

Each landing allowed me to see another glimmer that had been there all along.

Layers & Lenses

I often think of those elaborate steampunk glasses with multiple rotating lenses. Or the multi-lens Benjamin Franklin spectacles from National Treasure.

Each lens reveals something different.

Each lens changes what becomes visible.

Some lenses are clear.

Some are tinted.

Some are scratched.

Some have become slimed over time.

The Light itself never changes.

The lenses determine what we see.

A child learns:

“My choices matter.”

Then slime whispers:

“Everything is my fault.”

A child learns:

“I have influence.”

Then slime whispers:

“I am the problem.”

The truth remains yet slime distorts. Over time the distortion begins to feel like reality.

The Glimmer remains. The Light of Truth keeps peeking through.

• A question.

• A discomfort.

• A burning heart.

• A breadcrumb.

• A sense that there is more here than I currently understand.

That is why I have spent so many years following emotional breadcrumbs.

Emotions often contain a glimmer of truth.

• A clue.

• A signal.

• An invitation.

The disciples on the road to Emmaus later said: “Weren’t our hearts burning within us?” Their hearts recognized something before their minds understood it.

Recognition followed later.

Awareness does not create reality.

Little?

The bookkeeping gift?

The treasure?

Jesus?

Awareness came later, revealing what was hiding in plain sight. Glimmers building upon other Glimmers.

The treasure was always there. I just could not see it yet. Looking back, I see that I have been Glimmer Gather all along.

The KING simply gave me another Glimmer for my feet. Then another and another. Each one preparing me for the next landing.

Invitation

Adjust Your Lens is not about rewriting history.

It is not about denying pain.

It is not about pretending difficult experiences were good.

It is not about creating a new reality.

One Lens at a time. One Breadcrumb at a time. One Glimmer at a time. The Light never changed. The lenses gradually aligned.

Perhaps that is the invitation.

A glimmer of Light is gentle. Quiet. Unmistakable. It does not compete for attention. It patiently invites attention.

The glimmer is never the whole journey. It is enough Light for the next faithful step.

The slime is real.

The glimmer is real.

The invitation is to follow the glimmer.

• Remaining available.

• Receiving another Glimmer of Light.

• Allowing another lens to be cleaned.

• Following the next breadcrumb.

Seeing what has been hiding in plain sight all along. As the glimmer leads toward the Light. That has been there all along.

Sometimes the miracle is not that God arrives. Sometimes the miracle is that our eyes are opened to see.

As I continue walking with the King, I keep discovering another glimmer. Another landing. Another invitation to trust.

He holds everything. He holds me. I surrender.

Then I discover there is more to surrender. Because every glimmer reveals more of His faithfulness.

After creating Clarity Cashbook, I had to admit something surprising.

For years I wanted nothing to do with bookkeeping.

If someone had told me that one day I would be teaching visibility around money, I would have laughed.

Or run.

Possibly both.

In fact, during a recent bonus session, I admitted that for years I wouldn’t have touched Clarity Bookkeeping with a ten-foot pole.

I thought bookkeeping was a distraction from His purpose.

I thought it was tedious.

I thought it was one more thing on a list that was already too long.

What I couldn’t see at the time was that bookkeeping wasn’t what I was avoiding.

I was avoiding visibility.

It Didn’t Start With Money

Years ago, I had insights about money.

I noticed patterns.

I saw things that helped our family.

One of those insights eventually helped shape a decision around Payless Shoes.

Awareness wasn’t the problem.

The problem was what happened to my awareness over time.

As the years went by, life felt increasingly heavy.

Responsibilities piled up.

The list got longer.

The pressure grew.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, I began shrinking.

Not all at once.

A little at a time.

Hungary

Years ago, we lived in Hungary.

Looking back, what strikes me is not the exchange rate, the travel, or even the budget.

It is how light I felt when it came to finances.

I wasn’t tracking every category.

I wasn’t managing everything, yet everything always worked out.

I wasn’t carrying the same weight I would later carry back in the States.

And somehow life worked.

When we returned home, the pressure returned too.

Bills.

Responsibilities.

Decisions.

Expectations.

The constant feeling that there was too much.

Too much to manage.

Too much to remember.

Too much to get wrong.

What I did not recognize at the time was that I was slowly becoming smaller under that weight.

I just couldn’t see it yet.

The Microscope

What I didn’t understand then was that I felt like the microscope was always pointed at me.

If finances went poorly, I felt responsible.

If a decision went badly, I felt responsible.

If there was stress, I felt responsible.

Over time, I began carrying a conclusion that sat underneath everything:

I was the problem.

I needed to be fixed.

So I spent years trying to become better.

More disciplined.

More organized.

More responsible.

More consistent.

I wasn’t looking for visibility.

I was looking for relief.

What I could not see at the time was that awareness and blame had become tangled together in my mind.

Visibility felt dangerous because visibility seemed to lead to the same conclusion every time:

“There is the problem.”

And somehow, the problem was always me.

The Cost of Shrinking

I thought I was creating peace.

What I was actually creating was absence.

The less visible I became, the less I contributed.

The less I contributed, the easier it became to focus on my lack of participation.

Over time, the adaptations became easier to see than the reasons they existed.

The procrastination became visible.

The avoidance became visible.

The shrinking became visible.

Eventually those adaptations became part of how I was viewed.

And, if I am honest, part of how I viewed myself.

What remained largely invisible was how those adaptations had developed in the first place.

My self-protection eventually became the evidence.

The reason for it quietly disappeared into the background.

The fruit of those adaptations was how I gradually lost touch with parts of myself.

What I wanted.

What I enjoyed.

What I thought.

What I saw.

Not all at once.

A little at a time.

Chronic Familiarity

The pain wasn’t new. The awareness was.

I am realizing that applies here too.

The pattern wasn’t new.

The shrinking wasn’t new.

The avoidance wasn’t new.

The awareness is new.

For years I thought I was seeing the whole picture.

I wasn’t.

The Unexpected Discovery

The irony is that Clarity Cashbook was born from the very thing I spent years avoiding.

Visibility.

Not blame.

Not shame.

Visibility.

Because visibility simply asks:

What is actually happening?

Money came in.

Money went out.

Some money already has a job.

Some choices create consequences.

Now we can see it.

And once we can see it, we have options.

What Visibility Revealed

For years I thought visibility meant scrutiny.

I thought awareness meant accusation.

I thought clarity would confirm what I already suspected.

Instead, visibility revealed a bigger picture.

There were patterns.

There were dynamics.

There were adaptations.

There were responsibilities that belonged to me.

And there were responsibilities that didn’t.

The picture was bigger than I thought.

Visibility did not reveal that I was the problem.

It revealed that I had mistaken adaptation for identity.

It also revealed that the visible adaptation was never the entire story.

The procrastination was visible.

The avoidance was visible.

The shrinking was visible.

What wasn’t visible was everything that came before it.

The picture was bigger than I thought.

Why This Matters

Clarity Cashbook is not really about money.

At least not for me.

It is about learning that awareness is not the enemy.

It is about discovering that visibility and blame are not the same thing.

It is about becoming visible enough to meet myself again.

Because awareness creates visibility.

Visibility creates options.

And options change everything.

What I am learning is that visibility is not punishment.

Visibility is what makes participation possible.

For years I thought avoiding visibility was protecting me from blame.

What it was actually protecting me from was becoming visible to myself.My own agency.

My own voice.

My own participation in the story.

Perhaps even parts of myself I had gradually lost touch with along the way.

Perhaps that is why I avoided clarity bookkeeping for so many years.

I thought it would tell me what was wrong with me.

Instead, it helped me see what was true.

For years I agreed with a story that said visibility would lead to blame.

Visibility eventually revealed that the story itself was incomplete.

For years, agreement with a lie led me away from visibility.

Today, agreement with truth is leading me back.

The issue is often not math.

It is disconnection.

When everything sits together:
• income
• expenses
• future commitments
• uncertainty

…it becomes mentally heavy very quickly.

Today we explored:

Many financial surprises aren’t actually surprises.

The awareness simply arrived late.

This is not about perfection.

It is about reconnecting with reality long enough to clearly see what is happening.

No fixing.

No overthinking.

Just notice.

This week I discovered I had a pain in my backside.

Literally.

The funny part?

I did not realize how much it hurt until it started getting better.

For years, my body had adapted.

It compensated.

It rerouted.

It worked around the problem.

The pain became familiar.

Then a tent cot collapsed.

A few days later, I could barely stand long enough to make dinner.

At first, it felt random.

Then the breadcrumbs started appearing.

The pain was on the same side as a fall I took 30 years ago when I slipped on icy stairs.

As I worked through the pain, followed the clues, and saw my Airrosti practitioner, I realized something:

The pain wasn’t new.

My awareness was.

And that got me wondering…

How many things in life become invisible simply because they are familiar?

A financial habit.

A relationship pattern.

A belief about ourselves.

A way of carrying stress.

An accommodation we make that slowly becomes normal.

Until something disrupts the pattern.

What struck me this week was that the pain was not the gift.

The awareness was.

Once I could see it, I couldn’t unsee it.

What had been invisible suddenly became visible.

And visibility created options.

Once I could see the pattern, I could respond differently.

I could seek care.

I could ask different questions.

I could stop assuming that familiar meant healthy.

And that’s not just true of bodies.

It’s true of money.

It’s true of relationships.

It’s true of life.

Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t the solution.

Sometimes it’s finally seeing clearly.

Because awareness arriving while options still exist changes everything.

This week reminded me of something I keep discovering:

Awareness creates options.

Clarity doesn’t come from intensity.

It comes from rhythm.

The spreadsheet is simply the tool.

The real transformation comes from building simple awareness rhythms that help you stay connected to your numbers consistently over time.
